Privacy policy
How Best Leeds treats personal data: what it holds and why, the providers involved, retention and the choices you have.
Who decides how data is used
This page covers personal data for which Best Leeds (bestleeds.uk) is responsible. Our basis is UK data protection law: the UK GDPR plus the 2018 Data Protection Act. Send questions about your data to info@bestleeds.uk.
What we hold, and the reason
Visits: server logs keep an IP address, the browser used and the pages requested, for a short time and for security and continuity of service. Basis: legitimate interests.
Messages: whatever you write to us, plus your sender address, so that we can reply. Basis: legitimate interests.
Account holders: the log-in email, every change made to a listing and, if Pro or Top is bought, billing records. Basis: the agreement with the business, together with the accounting records the law obliges us to keep.
Cookies and advertising
Readers see no adverts, and the site never sets advertising or analytics cookies. Visit counts come from Cloudflare and leave nothing on your device. Owners who log in receive one technical cookie that keeps their session going. As the service needs it, the UK cookie rules (PECR) do not call for consent, so no banner appears.
Our service providers
Cloudflare runs the site, protects it, measures traffic and carries email, and its Turnstile tool screens our forms for bots. Stripe handles card payments for Pro and Top. It keeps the card data itself, so it never reaches us. Readers are never charged. Some of this work is done by providers in the United States, with the transfer safeguards UK rules allow.
Retention
Logs are cleared quickly. Emails stay only while a matter is open. Accounts remain until the business closes them. Billing records stay for however long tax rules say they must.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask us what we hold on you, have mistakes corrected, have records erased, ask us to limit or stop using them and, where the right applies, get your data in a reusable form. Send your request to info@bestleeds.uk. A reply should reach you within a month.
If you are unhappy
Tell us first if something is wrong and we will try to fix it. You may also go to the ICO, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), the UK body that oversees data protection.
Updates
Changes to how we treat personal data are written into this page, so the text above always reflects current practice.
